I have several reading that are relative to areas that have changed dramatically (tree providing the shade is gone). The readings are no longer applicable. Can I delete them?? Do tell. :)

Just venting here, looking for a little compassion. We have (I mean had) two 30+ year old pine trees that were infested by pine tip borers. Now, sadly they have died. We had them removed yesterday. :((( If you live in the south and have a pine tree, you might look in to this. Trees are dying all over the piney woods of east Texas.

I'm guessing that for a master gardener, using the Easy Bloom is like cheating. I am absolutely a novice gardener but I do have a growing interest in gardening.
I love my easy bloom and it has saved me money trying out plants in areas that aren't right for them.
I also get a lot of great info from the forums, and especially from the "Plant Dr."
Thank you Easy Bloom!!

I pulled into my driveway, which is next to the rose I asked you about originally, and I noticed it is covered completley with little buds!!!!! I'm so excited to see them start to bloom for the first time since I've lived here! This will be my third spring/ summer.
Part of it has trained itself up a trellis and part of the canes are jutting out towards the alley. I can hardly contain myself!! I think it is going to be really beautiful in a few weeks. It will be wonderful when my Star Jasmine starts to bloom too.
I did not prune the plant in Feb., and I fed it with a banana peel, coffee ground and milk "smoothie" several times last year---I had plenty of all three and wanted something to help with black spot, aphids, and to aid in fertilizing it. This is what I found online and it has seemed to help all of my roses.
I'm sure it is close to impossible to tell me what to do next, but I'm going to take a cutting to my local nursery and see if they can help me identify it. SO...there may be more questions laster. :) I Just thought you might like to know that I'm having success. Thanks for all your help Dr. Robby!!!

I'm wondering if a rose plant can get too old? I ask because I have seven grandiflora bushes that I became the proud owner of when I bought my house. I think they have been here for 10-15 years, but it could be longer than that (if it is possible).
Two of them look pretty sad. They look better than they have in the previous two years, since I've been trying to "bring them back".
Both of them have only one cane growing off the root stock. One of the two has yellowish/ greenish spotting on the leaves.
Part of me wants to do what I can to save them, but another part of me just wants to dig them up and plant new bushes.
What do you think? Did I give you enough information?
Thanks in advance for your expertise!!

Thanks Robby, this is great info! One last thing...should I prune it in Feb., or just let it go?

When my husband told me that I would NEVER be able to guess what the Christmas gift he got me was (not in a million years), I wondered what on earth he had got me!! Then, I wondered WHY he would get me something that he didn't KNOW I wanted. I'm glad he went out on a limb with the easy Bloom. What a great gift!! I can't wait for spring!! I love my EasyBloom, but I wish I could use it more NOW!! I've taken readings where I want to add plants, and I want to add plants NOW!!!

I moved into my house (in North Texas) two years ago, and inherited six different rose plant in the process. I've managed not to kill any of them, and acutally had six of them blooming this summer (which is kinda a big deal for me :))!! The one I'm having a problem with is a climbing rose (on a trellis). I haven't had a bloom yet! I think the problem may be that I prused it in Feb. along with all the other roses. Any suggestions that will hopefully help be get some blooms this year? Also, I cut the trellis down when we moved in and no longer have it trained on anything. Is this a bad idea??

Temprature, amount of moisture, density, I guess that's it. I'm no expert on gardening, by any means. I have a gardening book that tells you how to build a compost pile, but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly. I guess I'd really just like to be able to tell if it needs to be watered or if it is "cooking."
Anyone else out there have any suggestions for this or should I just get a compost thermometer and keep my fingers crossed that I'm doing this correctly??
