I have been working really hard at trying to get a good crop this year as we have been very unsuccessful the past 3 years here in central Florida. I am worried my plants are sick and I don't know what to do. I have pictures. Let me kow how I can post so you can view. Thanks!
Thanks! Do you think one detergent works better than others and what ratio do you suggest? Just making sure I get this right. My husband is soooo looking forward to tomatoes this year.
Help! I have a ton of ants in my garden and in turn I have aphids and white flies. I have pulled the more infected plants as they aren't looking very healthy. I have also sprayed the others with a dish sopa and water mixture to rid them of the few bugs I saw. I understand that ants can bring these pests into my garden. How do I get rid? I tried borax and sugar, but not sure that worked. There is still just as many there as there was a week ago. Any suggestions on how to get rid and also prevent them (all pests) from coming back? BTW - I used Seven about 4 or 4 weeks ago so that is one reason I am trying to do this naturally. Thanks!
Ask the Plant Doctor » Wilty tomato plant
easybloom said I was doing evrything right re:light, temp, and water. Maybe it is the fertilizer. How do I check that? And then if it is too high, how do I correct? Thank you so much for your help with all this. Fortunately if I can resucitate these 2 that I have problems with I have another 6 that look fine thus far.

Ok - I've had the monitor mode in for a few days now and the yellow light is now blinking but my tomatoes still look sad. Should I go ahead and water just a little bit? Take the monitor out and see my readings? I'm just so confused with growing in FL. Had no problem with my garden in NC.
Ask the Plant Doctor » Wilty tomato plant
I live in Central FL. Just planted my tomatoes this weekend. (I know it's a little late) A couple became wilty right away. My EZ Bloom said they would do well where they are. I have watered them daily since planting. What else should I do to get them strong again?
Can you add Maui ixora? Not sure if it comes under a different name. Thank you.
I need just a bit more clarification on this. If I remember correctly the Baby Blue Eyes flowers in the spring and summer. If I plant this will it flower now? Do the rules change due to climate and conditions or what is written in the Plant Care section true always. I guess what I am asking truly is there is no sense in my planting the Baby Blue Eyes now if it won't flower until Spring and I want flowers now, correct? But if i am looking ahead to the Spring then it is a good suggestion, correct? Also what have you found on the Mexican Heather?
Ask the Plant Doctor » Mum blossoms shriveling/caladium
I may already know the answer to this question but I'll ask an expert first. I live in Central Florida and I bought mums for my "fall scene". They aren't doing very well. The leaves and stems look firm and green but the blossoms are dying off. We haven't had many days of temps below 85 since I got them. Could the heat be an issue? Also my caladium looks like something is eating at the leaves. Any known pests and how to get rid of them? Thank you!
I see others have questioned the accuracy of the recommended plants on here too. I a feel a bit confused because there are some plants that I have looked at in my recommendations and when I read the descriptions they don't look like they will work. For instance, I looked at Baby Blue Eyes as an annual and it said it does not work in hot and humid conditions. I live in Central Florida. That's the description of the weather here! On the flip side Mexican Heather seems to grow very well here. Almost everyone on my street has a plant some place in their yard and yet when I searched for it in my recommendations Easy Bloom said it was not a match. Is there something I am missing here?
