I was at the nursery the other day and wanted to know if a particular plant would grow well in one of the spots I had done a reading on already. It was way too difficult to go to the website, click here , click there... then not get to the right place.. it was just a mess... It would be great to just open the app and have it say something like will this plant grow in ..... (your listed and saved locations) pop in the name of said plant and then you get a list of your saved readings with green checks for the places it will grow and red X's for the places it will not. DONE, next plant. I ended up so frustrated trying to figure it out through my browser that I must have stood there for 30 mins trying to figure out things... I ended up frustrated and just got a few unexciting things and left.

I actually did a Google search on this (just bought the EasyBloom last week) and an article stated that an app exists, but I can't find it anywhere.
I too would LOVE LOVE LOVE this feature. EasyBloom is such a cool tool and it would be so much more amazing with an app that includes my data or at least my favorites (at least make the favorites downloadable to text so I have SOMETHING to take with me to the store?)
Just seems like there must be an easier way to fill the gap from recommendations to purchase at a plant center.

Hello Heather,
We have not yet developed an iPhone application. We are actually in the process of evaluating how many of our customers have iphones. What features would you like to see on it when released?
Best,

I think a mobile version of the site would be just as good. (I have an Android phone :)). See something like http://m.wegmans.com/. There isn't much an app can do that the website couldn't, as the functionality of the device is all via the website. It just needs a more finger-friendly interface.

I actually have an ipod touch, so to me I'd love to be able to download my information from the website to the ipod, or at least a list of best flower options by location without the requirement of a web browser. Typically when I shop for plants I try to organize by color and area, and with the list of what plants will work and which won't I'll also be able to find alternative options if my first choice plants aren't sold by the plant center. A mobile version of the site though would be a good alternative!

Ah, I hadn't considered offline access. This is actually possible to do on a website with the data storage APIs in HTML5 (which both iOS and Android support -- at least, they are supposed to).
An app may be nicer in general for more advanced features, anyway. I'd like to see these:
1) Searching of the plant library.
2) Browsing of plants I own/want to own, along with readings and suitable locations.
3) Lists of locations I have measured with access to the list of plants that will grow there.
4) "Property map" type overview. For example, let me provide a scan of my property map or a sketch and indicate where on that image I have taken readings and where my plants are.
4a) Let me specify watering/other maintenance schedules on the map (or at least show them there). That is, I'd like to indicate how often I expect to water plants and prune them and get reminders of some sort.
4b) "Planning mode"; Use the property map to indicate places I have measured in recommend mode. Let me select each place, show me plants that work there, then let me pick one. In the end, I should be able to save the selections in some form to take to the store or just play with until I come up with something I like.

...more features:
5) "Heat map" view of the "property map". Based on previous readings, show me, on average, how the locations' sun level, temperature, etc. change over time.
6) FWIW, the previously mentioned property map could just be a picture I take with the phone of a room or my front yard.

Great feedback everyone. I'm going to create some requirements for this and submit it to engineering.
It will take a little while to develop because we are in the process of some major developments. Best, Matt

Hello Matt, any chance you could throw Windows Phone 7 on that development list? it's in ASP.NET C# so is a very well known language verse iPhone's objective C.
The mobile app wouldn't need all the data the portal has, perhaps just previous readings, recommendations, and the plant data.

Hi Matt,
Late responding, but I am interested in the iPhone App too. I'd like to see my readings when I go to the garden. I have to make notes so I remember to turn off the water to plant A, increase water to plant B. Fertilize Plant C, Rinse out Plant D. Yes - I have 4 sensors and they run year round! Great product. Has helped me get a few plants growing I would have lost otherwise. Not all of them, but I understand my water needs better. More fruit on trees too! Thanks.
