This old idea works great, and everyone I suggest it to has had impressive success. Especially when used in smaller areas...like your vegetable garden. All you need are some old thin socks or pantyhose and strong smelling soap bars like Ivory Spring or Dial. Break it up into thirds and put each piece into the sock and hang them sporadically (and discreetly) in the area you want to protect. Every once in a while give the soap chunk a little squeeze or crush it a bit to release more odor and you will be surprised at the effectiveness of this low cost deterrent. But on my seven acres....7' tall deer fencing!
