Access to the Environmental Conditions data

Just to add another voice to the request for access to the raw environmental data... We set up the product yesterday and took a look at the results today - the first question I had was "how do I see the actual data?" I can appreciate that most folk are probably not going to be that interested in it and will be happy with just the simple bar charts.... but please don't "dumb down" the potential of a great product. Thanks!
And another voice. :)

Yeah, I'd like access, too.
Hi everyone, the EasyBloom Plant Sensor and website were designed as a complete system, which collects your data, applies our algorithms and provides you with practical results. We do all the data measurement and processing behind the scenes and present the results in an easy-to-read manner. As our goal has been to provide an accurate, comprehensive sensor with easy-to-interpret results and feedback (more consumer-oriented than researcher-oriented), we do not plan on making raw data available to the user. Our intent is by no means to "dumb down" the results. We realize the provided graphs can be improved and as such will be making some changes to address this issue. My apologies for any inconvenience! FYI, for quickest response time, please use our Support site's contact form for all inquiries intended for PlantSense, including feature requests. Kind regards, Noam / EasyBloom Customer Support
Hi Noam, Your company's attitude is unfortunate, short-sighted, but also typical. This matter is not about the quality of your graphs or analysis algorithms. Yes, of course you want to make the product easy to use and accurate for users. All of your customers want that as well. Making the product easy to use and accurate is not incompatible with also offering a way to get the raw data. By blocking access to the data, you are missing a business opportunity. Your software is free anyway; therefore, what should matter to your company is selling as much hardware as you can. If you expand the potential uses of the device by gaining the interest of more users, you will sell more hardware. Why not offer a simple raw data output in some text format (e.g., simple CSV) as an advanced option for those people who are interested in exploring further? We're not asking for you to disclose the analysis algorithms or open-source your software; you can keep those closed. You have a brilliant device and it lends itself to creative applications, so let the tinkerers explore. Isn't it obvious that the more people want to explore using the device, the more devices you will sell? Bonus: you get an additional P.R. opportunity by touting how you listen to customer requests. Best regards, Mike
Hi everyone, I agree with Mike's assessment, the PlantSensor is a very unique and valuable device. Releasing some individual user data to that person could add value to the device. Eg: I am adjusting my drip irrigation system and remain mired in calculated data. The only REAL data I have is from the Plant Sensor. Best, Mary
I don't have my EasyBloom working yet (firmware issue) but I was looking forward to seeing the raw data. The user manual says "My readings is an area of the website that contains all the data for each reading you take in your home or garden." I can see from this thread that "all the data for each reading" is not provided. I hope EasyBloom adds this painless, no-cost feature for us techie types. I know a lot of people that would buy this product if it did. Please consider it.
Hear, hear! Data, please!
Actually, if you view the source of the Plant's View tab of your readings, you'll see in the html for the graphs is a url for the xml_source. For instance, I have a reading at http://easybloom.com/readings/12367 and the raw xml for the sunlight readings is at http://easybloom.com/chart/12367/data/light
Thanks Tony. You'd the man! I can script my way to the raw data with this info. @Noam- If as you say, "our goal has been to provide an accurate, comprehensive sensor with easy-to-interpret results", then why don't you (PlantSense/EasyBloom) please provide us the raw data? That is, directly from the sensor w/o going through your website. By doing so, I submit that this unintended application of your product (providing raw data) would augment your sales. Please pass this on to your management.
