Plant Care
Planting:

Propagate from the seed. Sow in containers in a cold frame when ripe. Do not allow seedlings to dry out. Plant bulbs out in fall, 3" deep into the soil. Can remove offsets in summer.

Plant Growth:

Vigorous, bulbous perennials. Plant does well in full sun or partial shade. Plant height varies depending on variety. Some species will grow to approx. 20 in. Bluebells grow best when naturalized into grass, either for a woodland or wild garden. Also works as underplanting in a shrub border.

Blooming:

Blooms racemes of bell shaped blue, white, and occasionally pink flowers in spring.

Soil and Irrigation:

If plant is in an area where winters are dry, water from October on. Hyacinthoides does best in medium fertile, humus-rich, well-draining soil that is kept moist. H. hispanica withstands many soil types.

Pruning:

Cut faded flowers to prevent self-seeding.

Pests:

Uncommon.
