Plant Care
Planting:
Plant seeds as soon as they ripen and when temperatures are at 70°F. Take cuttings to root in summer.
Plant Growth:
Mostly evergreen grasses that will brown if hit by a hard frost. Although these grasses are very drought tolerant, they perform and look better if given sufficient water.
Blooming:
As with most grasses, the flowers and floral inflorescences are relatively inconspicuous, but some species (M. emersleyi, Bull Grass; M. rigens, Deer Grass; M. capillaris, Pink Muhly) have floral inflorescences that have purplish or pinkish floral spikes.
Soil and Irrigation:
Once established, needs very little water.
