Plant Care
Planting:

In mid spring, divide. Division entails propagating a plant by splitting it into 2 or more parts. Each part has its own root system and more than one shoot or dormant bud.

Plant Growth:

Rhizomatous perennial grasses. Does fine with either full sun or partial shade. The species C. brachytricha is a good candidate for container plant. Long-lasting inflorescences.

Blooming:

Although most grasses are not known for their blooms, Reed Grasses produces tall inflorescences of flowers that fade from purple-tinted green to yellow that will persist into winter.

Soil and Irrigation:

Needs regular water. Tolerates most soil types, but does best with moist, humus-rich soil.

Pruning:

In early spring, cut down to the ground old stems before new growth begins. Warning: some species could be invasive.

Pests:

Most common are powdery mildew, tar spot, rust, smut, ergot, leaf streak, scald, char spot, red eye spot, speckle, and foot rot.
